Château Capbern

France

Château Capbern is a Saint-Estèphe estate in Bordeaux, historically run by the Gasqueton family over 10 generations and, since 2011–2012, owned by Suravenir Insurance with a minority stake held by Jean-Pierre Moueix, managed alongside Château Calon-Ségur. Its vineyards lie on sandy-gravelly, clayey-gravelly and chalky soils on well-exposed, gently sloping sites with good drainage. Certified HVE Level 3, the estate uses natural fertilisers and limits chemical inputs. The plantings are led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Winemaking is overseen by Laurent Dufau and Vincent Millet, with consulting oenologist Éric Boissenot.
