Tenuta di Bibbiano is a historic family estate in Castellina in Chianti, owned by the Marrocchesi Marzi family since 1865 and now run by fifth-generation brothers Tommaso and Federico. In the heart of Chianti Classico, the vineyards sit on hillside slopes with southwest and northeast exposures, Pliocene clay-limestone soils rich in alberese, and are farmed certified organic using low-impact inputs. The estate focuses on indigenous varieties, especially Sangiovese, with manual harvesting and separate vinification of crus from the property’s two slopes to express the site’s distinct character. Today Maurizio Castelli leads the winemaking, following the long influence of Giulio Gambelli, with an approach that balances tradition, terroir expression, and modern responsibility.
