Rusden is a family-run Barossa Valley vigneron in Vine Vale, founded by Dennis and Christine Canute and now operated by their son Christian, who is also the winemaker. Drawing on seven generations of grape-growing history, the Canute family farms old vines by hand on deep white sand over red clay, with a strong emphasis on custodianship of the land. Traditional methods guide both vineyard and cellar work, including hand-picking, small-batch open fermentation, basket pressing, and bottling without fining or filtering. Sustainable practices such as cover crops, composting, and reusing winery by-products support an estate-grown, low-intervention approach. Rusden focuses on traditional Barossa varieties and blends, while also experimenting, producing wines that are fruit-driven, balanced, and expressive of vintage.
