Red Edge

Australia

Red Edge is a traditional family-owned winery in Heathcote, Victoria, founded in 1994 by winemaker Peter Dredge and now managed with his son Will. The estate’s dry-grown vineyards are hand-pruned and hand-picked, with wines made on site exclusively from estate-grown fruit. Their minimal-intervention approach includes wild-yeast fermentation, hand plunging in small open fermenters, basket pressing, gravity racking, and no fining or filtration. Wines are aged in barriques, puncheons and stainless steel before bottling on site, and include Heathcote Shiraz alongside Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Graciano, Mourvèdre and Touriga Nacional. The off-grid, solar-powered winery focuses on traditional techniques and expressive red wines shaped by the region’s ancient Cambrian soils.
