Raventós i Blanc

Spain

Raventós i Blanc is a historic family estate in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, Catalonia, farmed by the Raventós family since 1497 and today led by Pepe Raventós. Working biodynamically and with a strong focus on biodiversity, the estate is treated as a self-sufficient farm organism, with native varieties, animal traction, forest, lake and river all part of the wider ecosystem. Its calcareous, fossil-rich marine soils are central to the saline, mineral profile of the wines. In 2012 the winery left the Cava DO to champion the more terroir-focused Conca del Riu Anoia, producing always-vintage sparkling wines with extended lees ageing and a clear emphasis on origin, precision and long-term farming.
