Château Saint-Jean de Lavaud is a boutique Lalande-de-Pomerol vineyard in Néac, situated on a gravel rise overlooking the Barbane. Its old, traditionally interplanted vines are composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, co-fermented and aged in 500-litre barrels under winemaker Bruno Lacoste. The estate is associated with Château Vieux Maillet and the Flemish Van Lalderen family, while other notes identify it as part of the Sarments Vignobles group and run by Frédéric Stévenin with Anthony Appollot assisting in the vineyard. Farming is described as biodynamic and in organic conversion since 2023. Its small-scale, distinctive approach and co-fermentation give the wine a singular character within Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
