Château Roûmieu-Lacoste

France

Château Roûmieu-Lacoste is a family-owned estate in Bordeaux focused on Sauternes from 100% Sémillon grown on Barsac-style clay-limestone and silty soils over fractured rock, with grey flint gravel and red iron. Owned and operated by Hervé Dubourdieu, who also oversees Château Graville-Lacoste and Château Ducasse, the domaine remains hands-on, with Dubourdieu directing the winemaking himself. Farming follows a lutte raisonnée approach and is certified Haute Valeur Environnementale / HEV Level 3. Quality is emphasized through selective harvesting and especially meticulous grape sorting, supported by paying harvesters above average wages. The style and approach reflect careful estate-grown production with a strong sustainability focus.
