Bodegas Salentein is a privately owned family estate in Mendoza, founded by Dutch entrepreneur Mijndert Pon and now operated by his children, Frederike and Ben. Its vineyards span three fincas and varied elevations, from the lower-altitude El Oasis to the high-altitude San Pablo, supporting varieties including Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The estate’s high-altitude sites encourage lower pH and higher acidity, while its Malbecs are described as subtle, velvety, structured, and elegant. Sustainability initiatives include a Carbon Trust-certified footprint assessment, irrigation with mountain runoff, and preservation of native desert habitat and a nature reserve. The winery also incorporates contemporary art and architecture, including the Killka Gallery.
