Fonzone is a family-owned estate founded in 2005 by Lorenzo Fonzone Caccese and his family in Paternopoli, within the Taurasi DOCG area of Irpinia. Its vineyards include Aglianico, Falanghina, Fiano and Greco, farmed with a sustainable approach that avoids chemical fertilisers and herbicides, encourages biodiversity and uses organic amendments and green manure. Grapes are hand-harvested and individual parcels are vinified separately to preserve their distinct character. Winemaker Luca D’Attoma oversees production in a largely underground cellar, using stainless steel, concrete, amphorae, terracotta and cocciopesto alongside carefully selected wood. The wines aim to express local varieties, soils and microclimates with minimal impact on the landscape.
