Domaine La Varenne

France

Domaine La Varenne is a family-run Burgundy estate led by winemaker Laurent Bourtourault and his wife, with operations based in a vaulted cellar near Chalon-sur-Saône. The domaine farms old Aligoté vines and a small Chardonnay parcel, including an abandoned vineyard reclaimed without chemical treatments. Since 2015, the vineyards have been managed biodynamically, with natural ground cover, agroforestry and a self-sustaining ecosystem. Ecocert has recognized the estate for its minimal copper usage. Production is highly limited, and the 2024 harvest was reduced by 90% under the domaine’s strict biodynamic protocols.
