Château du Domaine de l'Église is a historic Pomerol estate in Bordeaux, with documented origins dating to 1589, making it one of the appellation’s oldest properties. Located in the shadow of Pomerol’s bell tower, near Petrus, the vineyard is planted mainly to Merlot on clay and gravel soils with iron-rich subsoil. The property belonged to the Order of Hospitallers and the Church before being sold in 1793, and has been in the Castéja family since the early 1970s. Philippe Castéja manages the estate. Since 2021, the vineyard has held HVE 3 certification and is farmed with limited chemical use, mechanical weeding, hand harvesting, and careful canopy work. The wines are described as ample, round, elegant and refined, with a strong emphasis on Merlot expression.
