Panizzi

Italy

Panizzi is a pioneering San Gimignano estate founded by Giovanni Panizzi, whose research and experimentation helped redefine Vernaccia di San Gimignano, including its first Riserva and a long-term library of aged vintages. Now led by Simone Niccolai, with Walter Sovran directing the technical team, the estate continues to explore the variety’s evolution while championing Pinot Nero—the first and currently only producer of Pinot Nero in San Gimignano DOC. Its vineyards are hand-farmed with a low-impact, organic approach certified since 2020, avoiding pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. Set among woods, olive groves, and the medieval Fattoria di Larniano, Panizzi focuses on expressing place, biodiversity, and the aging potential of its wines.
