Peter Michael Winery

United States

Peter Michael Winery is a 100% family-owned California estate founded by Sir Peter and Lady Michael and now run by Paul and Emily Michael. With vineyards in Knights Valley, Fort Ross-Seaview and Oakville, it focuses on estate-grown Chardonnay, Bordeaux varieties and Pinot Noir from mountain and coastal sites. The approach emphasizes low yields, meticulous handwork in the vineyard, and traditional techniques such as native-yeast fermentation, French oak élevage, sur-lies aging for Chardonnay, and bottling some wines unfined and unfiltered. Sustainability is a core part of the estate, supported by Fish Friendly Farming, Sonoma Sustainable Vineyard, and California Sustainable Winery & Vineyards certifications, along with solar power, cover crops, water capture, and wildlife corridors.
