Producer

Oltretorrente

Italy

Oltretorrente is a small, estate-grown producer in Paderna, in Piedmont’s Colli Tortonesi hills, operated by Chiara Penati and Michele Conoscente since 2010. Its scattered, steep parcels include vines from 15 to 100 years old, with a focus on preserving old vineyards and expressing the varied soils and environments of the area. The entire farm is certified organic and biodynamic, with manual farming, cover crops, hand-mowed under-rows, and progressively reduced copper use. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations, concrete and stainless-steel vats, long macerations for reds, lees aging, and moderate sulfur support a natural, balanced style while retaining traditional practices.
