Located in Sonoma, Buena Vista Winery was founded by Agoston Haraszthy in 1857 and is recognized as California’s first premium winery. Its pioneering history includes the development of vineyards, modern winemaking practices, and Méthode Traditionelle sparkling wine through Haraszthy and his son Arpad. Today, the winery is owned by French entrepreneur Jean-Charles Boisset as part of the Boisset Collection. Buena Vista sources grapes from varied Sonoma County and Napa Valley sites, including family-owned vineyards, and aims to express each grape and vineyard through traditional techniques and modern enological knowledge. Its restored Vinicultural Society offers small-production wines exploring distinctive varietals, clonal selections, and Sonoma terroir, while historic caves and cellars form part of its visitor experience.
