Oakville Ranch is a mountain estate in California’s Oakville sub-appellation, producing terroir-driven wines since 1989, when Robert and Mary Miner acquired the historic property. Its certified-organic vineyards sit around 1,000 feet above Napa Valley on distinctive red volcanic soils, with Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varieties prominent in the plantings. Farming is guided by Phil Coturri’s belief that balance in the glass begins in the vineyard, using cover crops, insectaries and habitat to support biodiversity. Most of the ranch remains natural habitat, complemented by orchards, gardens and bee hives. Winemaker Jennifer Rue has worked with the estate since 1996, bringing long familiarity with its distinctive site. The range includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay and field blends, with limited estate wines produced under the Oakville Ranch label.
