Cantina Santa Barbara is a Marche estate in the village of Barbara, founded in 1984 and owned and led by Stefano Antonucci, who also directs the winemaking. Antonucci left a banking career to transform his family’s former cooperative cellar into the current winery, guided by a personal, experimental vision rooted in local grapes and territory. The vineyards lie in the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi area at around 260 metres, with clay soils and northwest exposure. The estate highlights Verdicchio in particular, including work with fermentation and ageing in different types and sizes of wood. An organic certification is noted for the “Back to Basics” label. Cantina Santa Barbara has also earned broad recognition from major Italian and international wine guides and competitions.
