Producer

La Caña

Spain

La Caña is a boutique Albariño producer in Rías Baixas, founded and owned by Jorge Ordóñez and operating within Grupo Jorge Ordóñez. The winery works with a limited area of historic, dry-farmed vineyards planted between 1962 and 1984, using traditional, low-intervention viticulture without pesticides, fungicides, or herbicides. Its low-yield fruit is made in small batches, with fermentation and aging in stainless steel and 500–600-litre oak barrels. Ordóñez’s aim is to produce a serious, traditional, authentic Albariño inspired by the artisanal wines he encountered in Rías Baixas in 1991, rather than the region’s mass-produced commercial style.
