Château Ausone

France

Château Ausone is a family-owned Bordeaux estate run by Alain Vauthier and his daughter Pauline, continuing a long Vauthier family lineage at the property. The vineyard is certified organic and farmed with a gentle approach that draws on both organic and biodynamic practices, with attention to the wider ecosystem through hedges, fruit trees, aromatic plants, and preserved wildlife. Its Cabernet Franc- and Merlot-planted vines grow on limestone and clay-limestone soils on steep, sheltered slopes and terraces. The domaine is deeply marked by history, from its links to the Roman poet Ausonius to its ancient quarries, chapel, and underground cellars. The wines are shaped with a focus on elegance and finesse, with Alain Vauthier leading the grand vin and Philippe Baillarguet overseeing Chapelle d’Ausone.
