Castello di Farnetella is a historic estate in Sinalunga, within Tuscany’s Chianti Colli Senesi, owned by the Poggiali family since 1981, who also own Fèlsina. Its vineyards lie on southwest-facing sites between 220 and 560 metres, on soils combining sand, clay, limestone, sandstone and marine sediments. Vines are hand-harvested and farmed organically, with sustainable and some biodynamic practices reported. Sangiovese is the estate’s defining variety, supported by vineyard-by-vineyard microvinification, massal selection and viticultural work aimed at expressing Farnetella’s distinctive character and reducing yields. The estate also cultivates Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Nero, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, producing around ten wines.
