Bianka & Daniel Schmitt

Germany

Bianka und Daniel Schmitt is a fourth-generation family estate in the Wonnegau area of southern Rheinhessen, owned and run by Bianka and Daniel Schmitt since 2012. Farming is fully biodynamic and Demeter-certified, with organic and biodynamic viticulture, hand harvesting, indigenous-yeast fermentations, and no pesticides; parts of the vineyards are also being converted into biotopes to support biodiversity. Working across sites in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, Monsheim and Kriegsheim, they make natural, vegan-friendly wines with no additives, no fining, no filtration, and no added sulphur, using amphorae and reclaimed oak barrels. Some wines come from vines more than a century old, continuing a family tradition that stretches back 230 years.
