Bethel Heights

Bethel Heights Vineyard is a family-owned estate in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, founded in 1977 by twin brothers Ted and Terry Casteel and now run by the second generation of the Casteel family, including Mimi Casteel and her cousin Ben. Mimi Casteel also serves as the primary winemaker. The estate is noted for its ecosystem-based “radical viticulture,” avoiding tillage and using grazing sheep to support soil health, microbial activity, and nutrient cycling. No formal sustainability certifications are mentioned. The focus is on thoughtful, family-led farming and winemaking rooted in long-term stewardship.
