Family-owned since around 1740, Weingut Salwey is based in Oberrotweil in Baden’s Kaiserstuhl, where Konrad Salwey serves as owner and head winemaker. A Burgundy specialist, the estate focuses on dry, fully fermented Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir from volcanic and loess soils, including the VDP.GROSSE LAGE sites Kirchberg, Henkenberg, Steingrubenberg and Eichberg. Viticulture emphasizes respect for climate, wildlife and the environment, with biodiversity-oriented farming since the 1980s, a nature reserve on the estate and organic certification from vintage 2024. Grapes are hand-harvested and selected, while wines are made in a clear, site-expressive style and often matured in large wooden barrels or barriques, including Kaiserstuhl oak. The estate’s wines are aged in its mountain cellar in Oberrotweil.
