Domaine Léon Boesch

France

Domaine Léon Boesch is a family-run estate in Alsace’s Vallée Noble, with a history dating to 1640. Its vineyards are farmed biodynamically and Demeter certified, with plots worked by hand using ploughing, homemade compost, Bordeaux mixture, sulfur, clays, herbal teas, and plant preparations. Grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed, and fermented with native yeasts. Whites mature in old oak foudres and reds in barrels, with only a small addition of sulfur before bottling. The estate’s wines are made to express the character of each parcel, including Clos Zwingel, a vineyard cleared by Gérard Boesch in the 1980s after he recognized its potential.
