Domaine Eric Louis is a fourth-generation, family-owned estate in Sancerre in the Upper Loire Valley, founded in 1860 by Pauline, Eric Louis’s great-grandmother. Eric Louis owns and operates the domaine as winemaker, with occasional collaboration from Sophie Bertin. The estate farms approximately 35–36.5 hectares across Sancerre, Quincy and other Loire appellations, producing Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and rosé. Its organic-focused viticulture includes beneficial herbs, grass cover, low yields and lunar-calendar vineyard work, with minimal chemical treatments. The domaine is AB organic and Certified Sustainable, and is pursuing HVE Organic certification. Winemaking uses no added sulfur during vinification, only trace amounts at bottling, and follows organic and vegan practices. Its Sauvignon Blancs are noted for fresh, flinty, mineral character.
