Producer

Thierry Germain - Domaine des Roches Neuves

France

Thierry Germain, a Bordeaux-born winemaker, acquired Domaine des Roches Neuves in Saumur-Champigny in 1991 and has since transformed it into a leading organic and biodynamic estate. As the sole proprietor and owner-operator, he personally oversees all production, with cellar master Michel Chevré as the key winemaker. The domaine spans 22–28 hectares across 61 plots in Varrains, with a low-yield regime of about 1,500 L/ha, producing roughly 80,000–120,000 bottles annually. Certified organic since 2002 and fully biodynamic (Biodyvin) since 2003, it employs hand harvesting, indigenous yeasts, minimal oak, and natural fertilizers, focusing on Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc. The historic winery, built in 1850, exemplifies sustainable Loire Valley viticulture.
