I Sodi

Italy

I Sodi is a family-run estate in Gaiole in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico, where the Casini family has produced wine since purchasing the farm in 1973. Its historic farmhouse and winery sit among approximately 12 hectares of vineyards, planted on stony, clay-marl soils rich in galestro and alberese at 400 metres. Harvesting is exclusively by hand, with careful selection of Sangiovese and Canaiolo; the estate is renewing some vineyards while preserving its long-established Sangiovese biotype and older plantings. Winemaking combines controlled-temperature maceration with traditional large oak barrels, alongside some smaller barrels for prestigious wines. The estate also produces olive oil and operates the nearby Le Trappoline agriturismo. Its wines have received recognition from Decanter, Falstaff, Bibenda, Vitae, Sakura and Vini Buoni d’Italia.
