Albert Ponnelle is a fifth-generation, family-owned Burgundy estate founded in 1870 and now managed by Louis Ponnelle. Based in Beaune, the domaine works its own vineyards in the Côte de Beaune and sources grapes from the Côte de Nuits, with plots across several Burgundy appellations. Certified organic and biodynamic, it uses horse-plowing, hand-harvesting, natural plant tisanes, minimal sulfur and copper, and lunar-calendar interventions, while avoiding synthetic fertilizers, herbicides and heavy machinery. Gravity-fed bottling and an emphasis on biodiversity reflect a gentle, low-intervention approach. The wines are made in modest quantities with limited yields, focusing on terroir-driven expression.
