Quinta da Pedra Alta is a Douro producer based in the Cima Corgo, working estate vineyards on schist at varied elevations and exposures. Acquired in 2018 by a small UK-based group of family and friends, the estate is upgrading its vineyards and winery. Winemaking is led by João Pires, with Matt Gant also involved. The approach is traditional and low intervention: grapes are hand-harvested, foot-trodden in granite lagares and fermented with wild yeasts, followed by measured oak and extended lees aging. The range includes white, rosé, red and Port wines, with the reds expressing different vineyard elevations—from river-level parcels to higher sites—and selections such as Melhor blending the finest barrels. No formal sustainability certifications are reported.
