Petrolo

Italy

Petrolo is a family-owned estate in Tuscany’s Val d’Arno di Sopra DOC, run by the Bazzocchi‑Sanjust family since the 1940s. With about 31 ha of vineyards at 250–500 m altitude, production is small—around 800 hl (≈106,000 bottles) annually. The estate practices low‑intervention, organic viticulture (certified since 2016), using grass cover, no irrigation or synthetic inputs, and natural vinification. Their philosophy views wine as an alchemical transformation of nature into culture, emphasizing a deep connection with the land. Alongside wines such as the Merlot Galatrona and Sangiovese Bòggina, they produce organic olive oil and offer agritourism.
