Italy

Mauro Franchino is a very small, family-run estate in Gattinara, Piedmont, with Mauro Franchino as proprietor and his nephew Alberto Raviciotti managing day-to-day operations since 2018. The vineyards are farmed sustainably across three plots, without formal certification cited. Winemaking is traditional, combining partial fermentation in concrete tanks with extended ageing in large, old oak botti. Wines spend two to four years in wood, including at least the 12 months required by DOCG regulations. Around half of the harvest is sold to other producers, underscoring the estate’s small-scale character.
