Château de la Crée

France

Located in Santenay in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, Château de la Crée was acquired in 2015 by Ken and Grace Evenstad, founders of Oregon’s Domaine Serene. Its vineyards extend across Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay and Maranges, with Pinot Noir predominating over Chardonnay and a significant proportion of Premier Cru sites. The estate farms biodynamically and is converting to organic practices, with a focus on soil health, sustainability and terroir transparency. Winemaking is led by Pablo Bosch, working with the Evenstads and Michael Fay, and combines meticulous, low-intervention cellar work with innovative techniques. Wines are aged in the château’s historic 16th-century cellar and focus on expressing Burgundy’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay terroirs.
