Monte Antico is a Tuscan label founded by American wine merchants Neil and Maria Empson as a tribute to their love of Tuscany. Since 2019, their daughter Tara Smeralda Empson has managed the estate. Grapes are sourced from selected sites across Maremma, Colline Pisane, Colli Fiorentini and Chianti, with soils ranging from limestone and clay-calcareous galestro to clay-siliceous-calcareous formations. Longtime collaborator Franco Bernabei works with Neil Empson to shape the wines, centered on Sangiovese and complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate holds Equitas sustainability certification, although its vineyards are not certified organic. Its flagship Supremus draws on historic vineyard sites in Chianti Classico and is designed for early accessibility and food-friendly enjoyment.
