Riserva della Cascina

Italy

Riserva della Cascina is a family-run organic estate in Rome’s Appia Antica Regional Park, within the Castelli Romani DOC. Founded by Giovanni and Ida Brannetti in 1945, it is now led by the third generation, Silvia Brannetti, with Giuseppe Brannetti still involved in winemaking. Its vineyards lie on mineral-rich volcanic basalt soils and are farmed without herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, with manual harvesting, grassed inter-rows and sustainable soil practices. Organic certification has been continuous since 1994. In the cellar, the family uses native yeasts, limited sulfites, gentle oxidation control and unfiltered bottling; the wines are vegan-friendly. The focus is on native varieties including Malvasia Puntinata and Cesanese, producing authentic, elegant wines intended to express the Appia Antica terroir rather than follow trends.
