Franz Hirtzberger is a family-owned Wachau estate in Niederösterreich, founded by Franz Hirtzberger senior and run by Franz Hirtzberger junior since 1983, with the family closely involved in both winemaking and the commercial side. The winery works very steep, terraced vineyards and follows strict Vinea Wachau standards, with hand harvesting, no new oak, no chaptalisation, and care for the region’s historic dry-stone terrace walls. With a limited range of wines and a hands-on family approach, the estate is defined by traditional vineyard work and a clear commitment to the Wachau’s dry, site-driven style.
