Domaine Bernard Moreau

France

Bernard Moreau is a long-established family domaine in Burgundy, centered on Chassagne-Montrachet with holdings in Volnay and St Aubin. Founded in 1809 and now run by Bernard Moreau and his sons, Alex and Benoit, it remains firmly family-owned, with Alex overseeing winemaking and Benoit the vineyards. The estate grows Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, farming with organic fertilizers, avoiding pesticides, and using rigorous low-yield practices such as pruning, debudding, green harvesting, and leaf thinning to protect soil health. Winemaking is described as hands-off. The portfolio includes Premier Cru sites such as La Maltroie, Les Champs-Gain, Les Chenevottes, and Grandes Ruchottes, with 2021 the first vintage from the recently replanted Grandes Ruchottes parcel. No formal organic or biodynamic certification is noted.
