Casa de Vila Verde is a historic Vinho Verde estate in Lousada, in the Sousa River Valley of Minho, owned by the Pinto de Mesquita family for centuries. Its agricultural history dates to the 17th century. Casa Santos Lima manages the vineyards and oversees production and commercialization, combining traditional knowledge with modern winemaking techniques. Atlantic influences and predominantly granite soils contribute to the region’s fresh, mineral and aromatic style. Grapes are harvested by hand in September and picked by variety. Winemaker Mauel Lopo de Carvalho works with regional varieties including Loureiro, Arinto, Trajadura, Avesso and Alvarinho, alongside Espadeiro. Recent investment has focused on vineyard restructuring and winery modernization.
