Calabretta

Italy

Calabretta is a family-owned estate on the north slope of Mount Etna in Sicily, founded around 1900 and now run by third- and fourth-generation Massimo and Massimiliano Calabretta, with Massimiliano as primary owner-operator. The estate works old ungrafted vines and follows natural, organic-certified farming with no chemical pesticides or herbicides, hand harvesting, wild-yeast fermentations, and vegan-friendly practices. A member of the Triple A collective, Calabretta is known for a traditional, low-intervention approach, including long aging in large oak casks before bottling. The wines reflect an old-school Etna philosophy rooted in family continuity and careful, artisanal viticulture.
