Altapavina is a family-run winery founded by the Ortega brothers in 1985 in La Parrilla, Valladolid, Castilla y León. Its vineyards lie at nearly 1,000 metres on calcareous loam soils, under a continental climate marked by low rainfall and pronounced temperature contrasts. Pinot Noir is the estate’s signature variety, complemented by Cabernet Sauvignon and other plantings, and the winery produces Vino de Pago wines. Diego Ortega serves as owner, operator and winemaker, with family and a dedicated specialist team involved in the project. The wines are aged exclusively in French oak for 18–24 months, with Citius Pinot Noir bottled only after at least 18 months, reflecting a patient, quality-focused approach.
