Langmeil is a family-owned Barossa producer in Tanunda, South Australia, revived in 1996 on a historic 1840s site and now run by the Lindner family, whose Barossa roots span six generations. The estate is best known as custodian of the Freedom 1843 Shiraz vineyard, regarded as the world’s oldest surviving Shiraz planting, alongside other low-yield old-vine sites in Barossa, Eden Valley and Lyndoch. Farming emphasizes dry-grown vines, biodiversity and harmony with nature, supported by cover crops, solar power, rainwater capture and wastewater reuse. Under chief winemaker Paul Lindner, the wines aim to express Barossa heritage and site through minimal handling and a blend of old- and new-world techniques.
