Producer

Gramona

Spain

Gramona is a family-owned producer in Penedès, near Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, with the fifth and sixth generations still leading the estate. Working their land since the mid-19th century, they are known as pioneers of long-aged traditional-method sparkling wines, alongside still wines from Penedès. Xarel·lo is central to their sparkling wines, which are aged from 30 months to well over a decade. All vineyards are certified organic and biodynamic. Farming centers on soil health, biodiversity, and vine longevity, with hand harvesting, horse ploughing, respectful pruning, grafting in the vineyard, and biodynamic preparations. Gramona also promotes regenerative work through Aliances per la Terra and climate-related projects such as CLIMASEQ, ENCOIXINATS, and MALFUVI. In the cellar, they emphasize artisanal methods including whole-cluster pressing, gravity flow, native yeasts, and long cellar ageing.
