Spain

Forjas del Salnés is a family-owned estate in the Val do Salnés sub-zone of Rías Baixas, led by fifth-generation winemaker Rodrigo Méndez. Working with small plots of 40- to 70-year-old vines on granitic soils near the Atlantic, the winery focuses on micro-terroir bottlings and the revival of nearly extinct local red varieties. Viticulture is organic and low-intervention, with manual harvests, native-yeast fermentations, extended lees contact without bâtonnage, and minimal sulfur use. Traditional Parral pergola training remains central to the estate’s approach, linking its wines to the family’s long heritage in the region.
