Fontana Candida is a historic producer founded in 1958 in the Castelli Romani, in Lazio’s Frascati area. Once family-run and now part of Gruppo Italiano Vini, it combines estate vineyards with fruit sourced from around 210 independent growers, with an emphasis on buying whole grapes rather than juice. Since 2005, the winery has supported growers through free agronomic consulting and premium payments for healthier, riper fruit, reflecting a practical commitment to social and environmental sustainability despite no formal certification. Work in the vineyards centers on volcanic soils and a no-irrigation approach. Under oenologist Mauro Merz, Fontana Candida is known for Frascati wines made in a clean, modern style focused on freshness.
