Domaine Joseph Voillot

France

Domaine Joseph Voillot is a family-run estate in Volnay, Burgundy, operated by the Voillot family for six generations and now directed by Étienne Chaix, nephew of Jean-Pierre Charlot. Its vineyards extend across Volnay, Pommard, Meursault and Beaune, with a focus on site-specific Pinot Noir and Meursault Chardonnay. Farming is reasoned at plot level, with hand harvesting, strict sorting and environmental care; the domaine has been HVE certified since 2017. In the cellar, reds are completely destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, while whites are whole-cluster pressed. Traditional, gentle vinification and élevage in mostly used French oak—typically with limited new oak—aim to preserve freshness, elegance and terroir character. The wines are understated, finely textured and built for the table and for ageing.
