Domaine André Bonhomme

France

Domaine André Bonhomme is a family-run estate in Viré and Clessé in Burgundy’s Mâconnais, founded in 1956 by André Bonhomme and his wife Gisèle. Today it is led by their daughter Jacqueline Palthey and son-in-law Eric, with the next generation, Aurélien and Johan, actively involved in the winemaking. Working clay-limestone vineyards, the domaine farms organically, with no chemical weedkillers, certified organic treatments only, soil working, and fully manual harvests. In the cellar, parcel-by-parcel vinification, whole-cluster fruit, gentle pneumatic pressing, indigenous yeasts, minimal sulfur and limited filtration aim to express terroir clearly. The estate focuses overwhelmingly on Chardonnay, with a small amount of Gamay, and André Bonhomme also played an important role in the recognition of the Viré-Clessé appellation.
