Clos du Val

Clos du Val is a third-generation, family-owned winery in Napa Valley’s Stags Leap District, founded in 1972 by Bernard Portet and the Goelet family and now led by Olav Goelet. Shaped by Portet’s old-world influence and a long focus on Bordeaux-inspired wines, the estate is especially known for its commitment to blending as a core expression of character, freshness, and elegance. Farming is central to the winery’s identity, with Napa Green certification and a regenerative, organic-minded approach that includes pollinator habitats, insectary rows, integrated livestock, and soil stewardship. Clos du Val also uses lighter-weight bottles to reduce carbon impact, reflecting a practical, human-scale commitment to sustainability and land stewardship.
