Château Pérenne

France

Château Pérenne is a historic Bordeaux estate on the right bank of the Gironde, with roots reaching back to the monks of Saint-Romain de Blaye Abbey and recognition as Cru Bourgeois wine No. 1 in the 1868 Cocks et Féret guide. Its 71 hectares of vines, mostly 40-year-old Merlot planted on clay and limestone, lie in the Côtes de Blaye and Côtes de Bourg. The estate produces Merlot-led red blends alongside white wines, with fermentation in thermoregulated stainless-steel tanks and French-oak aging. Michel Rolland has advised on winemaking and vineyard management since Bernard Magrez acquired the property in 1997. Since 2016, it has been owned by entrepreneur Jack Ma. A reforestation programme, including the planting of trees on former vineyard land, reflects its stated sustainable direction.
