Château des Jacques

France

Château des Jacques is a historic Beaujolais estate in Romanèche-Thorins, owned and managed by Maison Louis Jadot since 1996. Its vineyards lie chiefly in the crus of Moulin-à-Vent, Morgon and Fleurie, on poor, acidic granite soils, with some parcels farmed according to an organic viticulture philosophy. Harvesting is by hand with careful sorting, while the estate’s approach emphasizes continual questioning and improvement rather than dogma. Gamay is destemmed and fermented naturally with native yeasts through long macerations, then aged for 10 months in oak casks in a 17th-century cellar. Pioneering parcel vinification and Burgundian-style élevage produce structured, age-worthy reds. Julie Pitoiset leads the winemaking team, supported by experienced cellar and vineyard staff.
