Les Bachelards is a historic, small estate in Fleurie, Beaujolais, founded around 1100 by Benedictine monks. It is a monopole of about 12 hectares, with very old vines planted at high density, yielding only around 40,000 bottles annually. The estate has been chemical-free since 2007 and is triple-certified organic and biodynamic (Demeter, Biodyvin). It employs a holistic, artisanal approach with biodynamic preparations, agroforestry, hand-harvesting, and gravity-fed winemaking using native yeasts. After being directed by Alexandra de Vazeilles, the estate is now owned and run by passionate winemaker Matthieu Gufflet, who continues its commitment to terroir expression and sustainable viticulture.
