Château Badette

France

Château Badette is a Grand Cru Classé estate in Saint-Émilion, owned by the Belgian Vandenbogaerde family and now managed by Arnaud Vandenbogaerde. Acquired in 2012, the property has undergone extensive renewal, including vineyard restructuring, new cellars and a careful study of its varied soils. Its contiguous vineyard on the northern Saint-Émilion plateau includes clay-limestone, clay-sandy and sandy-clay terroirs, planted to Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Farming emphasizes biodiversity and responsible practices, including permanent grass cover, green manure, no herbicides, sexual-confusion pest control and manual harvesting. Small vats, sorting tables and controlled-temperature aging support a traditional approach focused on expressing terroir with power, elegance and finesse. Winemaking is led by Jean-Philippe Fort and Mathieu Richard, with Arthur Debeugny as technical director.
